Plan a useful factory comparison

Begin by selecting one product group and a small number of genuinely comparable factories. Send the same brief to each proposed supplier through the platform. The brief should identify intended use, dimensions, materials, construction, quantity by colour, artwork, packaging and destination. Without a common brief, differences in lining, reinforcement, zipper quality, tooling or carton configuration can make apparently similar prices incomparable.

For a visit or remote factory review, ask the company to identify the actual site proposed for your order. Confirm the entity that will sign the contract and issue the invoice. An export office or showroom may help communication but is not itself evidence of production. Where a company uses more than one factory, ask which site will make the sample and which site will produce bulk goods. A production-ready sample should use the proposed materials, hardware and internal structure. Check it with representative contents and the intended packed load. Review high-stress seams, handles, straps, zipper openings, edge finishing and the packing arrangement. Identify which measurements and appearance points will be checked at inspection. If a thermal, water-resistance, chemical or impact requirement matters, agree the test conditions and acceptance criteria for the assembled product before approving bulk production.

Keep a controlled specification alongside the approved sample. Record material substitutions, colour references, logo placement and packing revisions in writing. Agree who must approve a change and how it will affect price or timing. These steps make the comparison useful whether the factory is near other shortlisted suppliers or in a different city. Geographic proximity can simplify a visit itinerary, but it does not replace product qualification or a clear purchase agreement.
